MESOTHERAPY QUESTIONS
AND ANSWERS What
is Mesotherapy ? Mesotherapy
is considered a complementary, nontraditional, or alternative therapy.
Based on the theory of the “gait” control of pain, which takes place in an
area of the spinal cord, this treatment stimulates the mesoderm, the middle
layer of the skin. This stimulation helps reverse the physiology of a condition
and stops the pain and muscle spasm cycle. What
is the origin of Mesotherapy ? Mesotherapy is a technique
developed in After aseptic preparation of
the skin, injections are made using a combination of substances including, a
homeopathic anti-inflammatory, a local anesthetic, and a steroid, to stimulate
the mesoderm. The mesotherapy injections, using a multi-injector, involve
extremely small needles (5mm long) that penetrate the intradermal layer of the
skin only a very small depth, which is typically 4 – 6mm. Because
most horses are sensitive to the procedure, the patient is sedated and twitched.
The number of treatments needed (often only 1-2) depends on many variables
including the condition, the abnormal physiology causing the condition, as well
as the chronicity of the problem. Substantial
improvement is anticipated within 7 – 14 days. Duration of action varies
between 3 and more than 12 months. What
conditions benefit from Mesotherapy treatment ? Mesotherapy is primarily
used in the management of back problems and is effective for a number of
conditions. This technique can be
used to treat issues such as chronic neck or back pain and degenerative
arthritis of the back and cervical vertebrae (neck).
